In short
- Weber is the render brand of Saint-Gobain; weber.pral M is its best-known through-coloured one-coat render.
- Weber also supplies thin-coat decorative finishes, base coats and the weber.therm range of external wall insulation systems.
- As with any brand, guarantees depend on using the complete Weber system and following its specification.
- Typical 2026 installed ranges: roughly £55–£90 per m² for one-coat, more for thin-coat and insulated systems.
The Weber range in brief
Weber is part of Saint-Gobain. On houses around Guildford you will mostly meet three parts of its range:
- weber.pral M, a through-coloured, one-coat monocouche render, usually given a scraped finish.
- Thin-coat decorative finishes applied over a meshed base coat, used on block, board and insulation.
- weber.therm external wall insulation systems, which combine insulation boards, base coat, mesh and a render finish.
Each product has a data sheet with minimum thicknesses, temperature limits and approved substrates. We work to it.
When Weber one-coat is a good fit
weber.pral M suits sound brick and blockwork: extensions, new builds and houses being re-rendered after old render has been removed. It is a hard-wearing, cost-effective finish. As a cement-based render it is not a good choice for soft historic brick, stone or timber frame; those need a more flexible or more breathable system. See rendering period and solid-wall homes.
What a good Weber quote includes
- The exact product names, not just "Weber render".
- Which beads will be used and where, including the bellcast or base bead above the damp-proof course.
- Whether mesh is included at window corners and over mixed substrates.
- The colour reference and finish, and whether a sample panel is included.
- Who provides the guarantee, for how long, and what it covers.
Our quote comparison checklist covers the rest.
Weber compared with K-Rend
The two brands overlap heavily. Weber is often the default on large new-build sites; K-Rend has a strong following among specialist domestic renderers. Colour ranges differ, so if you have a colour in mind, choose the brand after the colour. See K-Rend vs Weber.
Questions people ask
What is weber.pral M?
It is Weber's through-coloured, one-coat monocouche render. It is applied at around 15 to 20 mm and usually scraped to a textured finish.
Do I need a Weber-approved installer?
We are a Weber recognised contractor. You do not have to use one, but product-backed guarantees on manufacturer systems generally depend on the installer following the specification, and manufacturers favour trained installers. Ask what guarantee will apply before you sign.
Can Weber render be used on an extension to match the house?
Yes, provided the colour and finish are matched. Colour can vary between batches and with weather during application, so match on a sample panel and, where possible, finish a whole elevation in one go.
